World Celebrations and Traditions Assignment Requirements

DAY ONE
1. You will be studying one country's tradition or celebration from that country. Choose one country you would like to learn more about from the following list: Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia,Japan, Greece, Germany, India. ONCE YOU HAVE SELECTED YOUR COUNTRY YOU MUST TALK TO MS. WELLBORN TO CLEAR YOUR REQUEST. BE ADVISED: NO MORE THAN 4 GROUPS OF STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PICK THE SAME COUNTRY. DO NOT CHOOSE NEW YEAR'S DAY OR NEW YEAR'S EVE FOR YOUR TRADITION.

2. Begin your investigation of your country's traditions and celebrations. Create a google document to share with each other and start researching different traditions and celebrations in that country. By the end of DAY ONE you must have one celebration or tradition decided upon. Share your Google Document with Mrs. Wellborn.

DAY TWO
1. After you have decided on your country and the tradition to be studied, write down answers to the following questions:

  • What is the name of the tradition or celebration?
  • What is included in the tradition or celebration? In other words, what happens or what do people do? Be very specific and include sufficient information to inform someone about the tradition.
  • Why is the tradition or celebration practiced? Is there a religious or historical basis for this celebration or tradition?
  • When does this tradition or celebration take place?
  • Who takes part in the tradition? Are there specific roles and responsibilities for individuals?

WRITE DOWN THE WEBSITE WHERE YOU OBTAINED YOUR INFORMATION. CITE TO AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT WEBSITES!

DAY THREE
1. Find and download 8 photographs of your country's celebration or tradition. Start placing your pictures in Google Slides.
DAY FOUR
Edit your presentation and practice with your partner.
Day FIVE--Present your Google presentation to the class.
